Speaker Series: Traszi Scott, a local barber, is the first guest in our aimed at inspiring young girls to become motivated students and future business leaders. The event will be held at John Adams High School in Cleveland, Mon. March 1, 2010. Ms. Scott will tell her harrowing life story and how it inspired her to become an entrepreneur.
Thanks for Giving: Some area families had a lot to be thankful for this November when our Moca Girls teamed with the Life Change Institute to identify a family in need for the holiday. We donated a gift card and hopefully a little bit of inspiration. The effort was sponsored by Friends Helping Friends in Atlanta.
Superheroes Breast Cancer Awareness Summit: Caped crusaders of a different kind battled breast cancer Saturday, Oct. 24 at a local beauty salon. More than 50 women learned about breast cancer health and prevention from area experts as they were pampered using all natural body products, played games and listened to expert presentations.
The event was sponsored by the Hair Café, Northeast Ohio Neighborhood Health Services, Inc. (NEON), the Northeast Ohio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, The Cleveland Clinic and Moca Couture, LLC.
The women were targeted because according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, African-American women are more likely than all other women to die from breast cancer. In 1998, 35.7 percent of African- American women died from breast cancer compared to 27.9 percent of white women.
SPA PARTIES: We host home and corporate parties of 10 clients or more. This is a different way to entertain special friends, business groups and ladies' circles. Race for the Cure 2009: More than 65 people participated in Team Moca at this year's Race For the Cure Sept. 12, 2009. Members and supporters of Moca Botanicals have actively participated in this race for the past six years. See ya next year!
The Cleveland Komen Affiliate was established in 1994, following the first Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®. Since 1994, the Komen Northeast Ohio Affiliate has raised $15 million for mammograms and treatment, breast health education and ongoing support to women, men, their families and friends.
